AEMC CA863 Digital Thermometer with Dual K-type Thermocouple Inputs and Probe, -50 to 1300 Degrees C, -58 to 1999 Degrees F, Accuracy of + or -0.3% of Reading + or – 1 Degree C Review

AEMC CA863 Digital Thermometer with Dual K-type Thermocouple Inputs and Probe, -50 to 1300 Degrees C, -58 to 1999 Degrees F, Accuracy of + or -0.3% of Reading + or - 1 Degree C

The AEMC CA863 dual-input K-type thermocouple digital thermometer with probe is for use in applications requiring a broad range of temperature measurements, including furnaces, kilns, freezers, and other industrial applications. It measures temperature from -50 to 1300 degrees C (-58 to 1999 degrees F), with an accuracy of + or -0.3% of the reading + or – 1 degree C (2 degrees F). The K-type thermocouple sensor has a broader temperature measurement range than a thermistor sensor but provides lower accuracy. This thermometer accepts probes with two miniature K-type plugs (one probe included) and allows the operator to measure the temperature of two samples at one time. The LCD screen shows the current temperature, the highest reading, or the difference between the readings for the two channels. The backlit display is readable in low light. The operator can choose to display readings in degrees Fahrenheit or Celsius. The hold function keeps a measurement on the display so it can be recorded. The thermometer operates on one 9V battery (included). To conserve battery life, the user can program the thermometer to automatically turn off after 60 minutes of non-use. The display shows current battery charge at start-up, and a low-battery indicator alerts the operator and turns off the thermometer when low battery charge might affect the accuracy of readings. A holster helps protect against damage from damage due to impact, abrasions, and dirt.

Digital thermocouple thermometers measure the temperature of air, liquids, or surfaces. They may measure temperature in Celsius, Fahrenheit, or both. Thermocouple thermometers are composed of two conductors of different metals, usually alloys of the same metal, which touch at the sensor end of the thermometer. The difference in conductivity between the two metal pieces produces a voltage flow between the sensor end and the open end of each conductor, which can be used to determine the temperature. Different alloys are used for different temperature ranges. Thermocouple thermometers are used in applications that require a large temperature range and do not require a high degree of accuracy. These thermometers are used in kilns, turbine exhaust systems, and furnaces.

AEMC Instruments manufactures electrical testing and measurement instruments, including clamp meters, power quality analyzers, ground resistance testers, and data loggers. The company, founded in 1893, is headquartered in Foxborough, MA.
